TREATMENT FOR EXCESSIVE SWEATING (HYPERHIDROSIS)

OnabotulinumtoxinA is a natural, purified protein with the ability to temporarily block the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for “turning on” the body’s sweat glands. By blocking this this chemical, Botox® essentially “turns off” sweating at the area where it has been injected. The injections of dilute Botox® are very shallow just below the surface of the skin. In clinic we will do an assessment to determine if treating your excessive sweating is appropriate.

TELL ME, DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

“I spend considerable time each day dealing with sweat - changing clothes, “freshening up”, wiping, placing napkins or pads under my arms or in my pockets, bathing, and hiding under dark-colored, bulky clothes.

I am worried about what others may think so I make excuses to stay home so I don’t have to interact with people”

IF SO, HOW DO THESE RESULTS SOUND?

Botox® can decrease sweating by over 80%.

Results can be expected as soon as 2-4 days
after treatment with full effect within 2 weeks.

It lasts between 4-12 months.

And there are no restrictions in work or leisure activity afterward.

DID YOU KNOW?

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS: YOU DOn't HAVE TO LIVE LIKE This. Let's GET STARTED WITH A CONSULTATION & ASSESSMENT.

In addition to the psychological stresses, over active sweating can cause painful or irritating skin problems, such as bacterial or fungal overgrowth, infections, and skin maceration.

Ask me about The reimbursement program through central medical pharmacy that supports coverage of BOTOX® to treat your hyperhidrosis through your drug benefit insurance coverage.

“I’ve struggled with underarm sweating for over 14 years. The Botox injections were quick and painless. I can wear all the clothing I haven’t worn in years and have confidence again. It’s life changing. Thank you Shanna”

GET THE INFO YOU NEED FROM THESE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BOTOX® FOR SWEATING

DOES BOTOX® AFFECT MY ABILITY TO REGULATE MY TEMPERATURE?

Less than 2% of the body’s sweat glands are found in the underarms. Botox is temporarily shutting off these sweat glands, therefore, has little effect on body thermoregulation.

HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?

Plan to be at your treatment appointment about 45 minutes as the topical freezing cream application takes about 20 minutes and the actual procedure itself takes about 20 minutes.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE BEFORE AND AFTER MY TREATMENT?

Prior to Botox injections prepare the area by shaving at least 48 hours prior (if you don't wish to shave, that's ok too).
There are no restrictions in work or leisure activity afterward; however, its best to avoid intense exercise or the use of a sauna/hot tub on the day of the injections as is also the recommendation with any Botox® injections.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE TREATMENT PROCESS?

During the procedure, a very fine needle is used to inject tiny amounts of Botox® just under the skin throughout the area in a grid pattern about 1 to 2 cm apart. For your comfort we offer ice, topical freezing cream, or vibration analgesia.

WHAT AREAS ARE TREATED?

Focal hyperhidrosis, also known as primary hyperhidrosis, has an unknown cause. It is localized to one or more of the following areas:
Underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis)
Hands (palmar hyperhidrosis)
Feet (plantar hyperhidrosis)
Face (facial hyperhidrosis)
Each of these is considered one area each in regards to treatment pricing.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The cost of Botox treatments for hyperhidrosis will vary depending upon the number of body areas treated and whether insurance will cover any of the cost for you.
  • If you have benefit coverage, you will be responsible for your copay portion of the medication for example 20% or $40-80 (depending on your benefit plan).
  • At the consultation we will submit special authorization requests on your behalf for drug coverage to your benefit company. The cost for this service is $50 each time the forms are filled out.
  • Upon approval of drug benefits, a treatment appointment will be booked with us, at which time you will pay the injection fee of $150, to our clinic. The Botox vials are shipped directly to our clinic on your behalf.
If you do not have drug benefit coverage, you may receive treatment during the consultation using clinic supply and the cost will be that of $405 and the service fee for injection  $150, per area.
If you bring in your own vial(s) of Botox, you pay for the vials at your pharmacy and only the injection fee $150 per area is paid at our clinic. You may receive treatment at the first consultation.
